If you are a Denver Broncos fan, you are probably pretty upset with Julius Thomas heading to the Jacksonville Jaguars. But Thomas wants all of his fans to know, it is nothing personal. It’s the teams decision to not commit to a long term contract with him, and he is fine with that. Thomas mentions that playing with the Broncos was a true blessing. He was the young guy on the roster, so he had all the veterans, such as Payton Manning, helping him out with routes. Now that he is heading to Jacksonville, who had the youngest team in the league last season, he is excited to pass his knowledge he has gained onto a younger squad. Jacksonville is in need of a winning team, and Thomas plans on helping to achieve that goal. For his personal take on this move, and to find out what it’s really like to be in his shoes, visit http://www.theplayerstribune.com/julius-thomas-free-agency-letter/

If you play any sport, you know that nothing beat hitting the game winning shot or having a walk-off base hit to win. But doing that at the NBA level is a whole different ballgame. NBA’s Brooklyn Nets player Paul Pierce can attest to that. Pierce recalls his most memorable game winning shots was back in 2010, when he was with the Boston Celtics, at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. It was a very hostile environment for him because of the rivalry the two teams had. There was only a few seconds left on the clock when Pierce got the ball to take the game winner. Pierce says, “I have been practicing this situation my entire life, so I knew exactly when to make my move.” After extreme preparation, Pierce made a step back game winner. The adrenaline rush was so unbearable, he couldn’t help but run around making victory laps even though there was still a timeout being taken. This goes to show that your childhood dreams of practicing that game winner can always come to life. Don’t ever give up on that dream, because some day, it could come true!

Every athlete has that one defining moment in their career which changes their life. For Patrick Patterson, of the Toronto Raptors, that moment was against the Brooklyn Nets and a game winning shot. With the odds stacked against them and only 12.0 seconds left, Patterson made his best play ever. After intercepting a full court pass, he got the last second shot for the win. Patterson had this to say about that moment, ” There’s nothing quite like making a big play on the road. You put so much work in just for the opportunity to make a play that can silence an arena like that.” This goes to show how hard work and determination can make a career changing moment. For more information on this moment and clips of the game, visit http://www.theplayerstribune.com/the-best-play-i-ever-made/

Yet again, Lebron James is making history in the NBA. James has broken many records such as, being the youngest overall draft pick (age 18), youngest rookie of the year (age 19), and passing the all time great, Michael Jordan’s, record of having 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in 75 playoff games, but he doesn’t take this lightly. In Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Pistons, James passed Scottie Pippen in the the all-time leading assists record by a forward. He now has 6,142 assists compared to Pippens 6,135. When asked about the record, James replied “The assists for me is something that’s very cool, it’s something that’s always kind of driven me out on the basketball floor, and seeing my guys succeed. And to know the category I was in, with like (Larry) Bird and Pippen, it’s huge.” Many athletes strive for goals to accomplish throughout their career and James has made it clear this is one he has always wanted and has passed. To find out what it’s really like from LeBron himself, view the whole article from Cleveland.com using the link below.
