Chalky Finish Mint and Floral Buffet

DIY Secrets Revealed: A Chalky Finish Mint and Floral Buffet

A friend’s Mom helped me out big time on this piece. A friend of hers was looking to sell this beautiful antique buffet and I was lucky enough that she thought of me! It looks like it’s in pretty decent shape but don’t let the photo fool you…     The top was a hot mess, the bottom drawer didn’t close, both side doors didn’t shut and the top two drawers were...

Raising Chickens For The Beginner

Raising Chickens For The Beginner

Raising chickens is a crazy and weird experience. Or Maybe it was just the way I did it? On the second week of school, it was announced that each student in my Horticulture class would have to do an SAE (supervised agricultural experience) project. It took me a few days to think about what I would do…whatever it was needed to be cool, take up 15 hours of my time, not cost very much, and also...

My Introduction to WIRL

Hello my name is Michele Barrett. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 9 years with 3 children, ages ranging  from 4-9 years old. I always had  a vision of owning a small business one day. I decided to take a leap of faith this new year and I started my own decorating business. I always felt I wanted a little something I could call “my own” especially when you are a mom and you ...

Stylish and Creative Storage Solution

Stylish and Creative Storage Solution

We used to have a wooden coffee table in the middle of our living room. But once we brought our tiny human home I went from seeing “beautiful, aged dark wood coffee table with wrought iron legs” to “ARE YOU KIDDING ME YOUR CHILD CAN AND WILL FALL AND BUST HER BUTT ON THESE METAL SPIKES OF HAZARD YOU HORRIBLE PARENT!!” (Not to mention, “wasted space”.) We ...

DIY Spring Wreath: Easy and Inexpensive!

DIY Spring Wreath: Easy and Inexpensive!

(And there’s nothing like greeting people who walk into your home with ‘easy’ and ‘cheap’, right?) But this is the best kind of easy and cheap because it doesn’t look it AT ALL. And you can make small changes to it so ...

Pantry Order

Pantry Order

If you are like me (someone who loves food, especially snacks) you probably have a lot of mess going on in your pantry.  Mine has always looked like a tornado ran through it.  It’s just pure unorganized chaos in there every time the door is opened. My husband and I have always tried to keep it neat.  We tried organizing it in categories:  pasta, soups and mixes on one shelf, cereal, granola bars, ...

A Day in the Life (Or at Least a List of ‘Best Intentions’)

I have no idea how to organize my day, because I SUCK at planning. I try, I really do, but it never works out quite like it does in my head. My husband is freakishly regimented by nature and plans things down to THE MINUTE, but that’s just not me. Instead, I try to find a ‘loose outline’ of what the coming week will look like, then I laugh at my ambition as I sip cold coffee on Monday morning and ...

Looking for Affordable Artwork

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can find affordable artwork and possibly a mirror and sconces for my family room?  I would like to stay with earth tones. I live near Erie, PA, but don’t mind ordering from somewhere online. I checked Kirklands, but they didn’t have a lot to offer and the closest one is about 80 miles away :/ !!
