I’ll kick the conversation off by admitting that I did have to do a double take when I saw these photos of Caitlyn Jenner. She does look great, but then I start to think, of course she looks “good”, she just paid a ton of money to look that way!
But then, I am torn because although I do think it is courageous of her to take this path in life,…[Read more]

Yes, I said it, Caitlyn Jenner. The former Bruce Jenner has finally physically transitioned and let “her” out of the closet making her debut on Vanity Fair magazine earlier this week. Good for him! or her? Right? […]

Katherine – I’m so thankful you made it! Gosh, that must have been very scary! A friend of mine had HELLP also and is going to soon write a WIRL about her experience. I’d love for you to as well, if you’d like.
Sometimes it can be hard to tell when you’re overreacting, especially when the OBGYN’s make comments like, “You’re pregnant, of course…[Read more]

Wow, Maggie, I’m so sorry to hear about your sister in law. I truly believe if it weren’t for modern medicine, I may not have made it either. Having Preeclampsia made my pregnancy and delivery so scary! I hope this WIRL helps educate, inform, and/or save someone.

And just like that I learned something today! Crazy to think that someone in the wirl community was effected so greatly by pre clampsia and what a blessed that her daughter is still alive. Such a hard thing to deal with I’m sure. My heart goes out to you Maggie!

Hey Jessica! Welcome to the blog world! As I mentioned in another comment, linky parties can be great if they have a genuine, authentic reason for existing…your quilt example is exactly what I mean when I say that. Link parties that are filled with “link-and-leavers” are the ones I get very frustrated with because nobody (except the host) is…[Read more]

Great points here, Melissa. First of all, thank you for your comment, support, and perspective – I appreciate that very much. I learned very quickly that blogging was more than it seemed, but it’s also so rewarding! Great tip about the time management – it’s something you need to master if you want to blog long term!

This type of Linky Party sounds very fun, Pam! I think you’re so right – it works for the DIY/Decor space. I guess what I was speaking towards was more from the bloggers perspective than a readers perspective. I think from a readers standpoint, linky parties would allow you to explore other bloggers all in one place and find new bloggers to…[Read more]

I’m glad you could relate, Stephanie. I was a little nervous to confess my true feelings about all of this and you’ve reassured me that it was a good idea to let it out. Most bloggers are incredible people and are more than willing to help others and pay it forward, but some of them are very selfish, as you said, and this can be very frustrating!

I think you hit the nail on the head with all of it. Especially the linky parties. I have two or three I join a week that bring me traffic (my page views double on those days), but the rest I join mostly because that blogger and I help each other out with site views and shares. Bloggers that visit my site and say “thank you for linking up” and who…[Read more]

I’m not a blogger, but I have been a long time reader of many, many blogs. Most all of them are diy/decor/cooking/fasion blogs. They are not family or motherhood blogs, simply because I haven’t reached that point in my life yet. I understand how much they can be, specially bloggers that are the DIY type. First you have to create the material,…[Read more]

I hear you, Sara. Blogging is a ton of work, but it’s fun, too. In general, I agree with you about link parties and facebook groups, but the ones that are run by actual bloggers who are active (as opposed to VAs doing the work or someone paying their kid to drop links for them [true story]) can be extremely supportive and help make blogging worthwhile.

Not “flip” flops, but “Fit Flops”. Have you ever heard of them? http://www.fitflop.com
Sorry if that’s what you meant by what you said above, but I wanted to make sure you knew what I was suggesting. My Mother-in-Law loves these and they’re great for support (I think). Let us know if you discover anything you like!

1) I used to use the BIC razors, but tried the Venus one’s one time and will NEVER go back. You can get $3.00 coupons and combine them with Target or HT promos and get them for very cheap and they last for a long time!!

Great comment, Heather. I really appreciate this perspective. Also, thank you for sharing those statistics with us, it sure does bring this all into perspective, doesn’t it.
I’m already so sick of it lol. I’m with comment 5!
At first my gut reaction is disgust on how perverse this is. Its nauseating. But than I try to see him the way God sees him. God created us in His own image. Genesis 1:27 I can imagine the sadness the Father may feel for his child created.
